Canvas-Covered Canoe, “Champlain” model, no. 1492
This is the Peterborough Canoe Company’s Champlain model, no 1492, allegedly “designed and recommended for use in boys’ and girls’ camps, tourist resorts and boat liveries” (from 1955 catalogue). The canoe was painted orange and used by the owners for family recreation in the Kawarthas and Algonquin Park.
