Lock n' Paddle - National Canoe Day!

How many paddlers can we fit into the Peterborough Lift Lock? That is what Parks Canada, the Canadian Canoe Museum, and the Land Canadian Adventures will attempt to answer on National Canoe Day. Grab your paddles and venture to the Peterborough Lift Lock on June 26th at 1 PM to take part in this amazing event!

Free Lockage on June 26th for Peterborough Paddlers

Skip the portage and enjoy National Canoe Day on the water with FREE lockage for all participants in the event. Lockage will be waived for participating paddlers from Lock 20 – Ashburnham to Lock 24 – Douro. In exchange for free lockage we will be encouraging paddlers to bring a canned food item to support the local community.

Launch Options

Our goal is to have as many paddlers as possible at this event, so it’s important to know your best options to get your canoe or kayak into the water and on the way to the Peterborough Lift Lock. It is recommended that avid paddlers plan to paddle to the Peterborough Lift Lock from one of the first four options in order to allow those with less experience or accessibility concerns the ability to enter the waterway at the Visitor Centre.

NOTE: When paddling to Lock 20 allow an extra 35 minutes to transfer and paddle to the Peterborough Lift Lock.
