Silver Canoe Dinner Series

Next Upcoming Dinner

Fall 2017

The Canadian Canoe Museum is inviting Canadians to join a process of renewal, reinvention and planned relocation of the museum. Now is the ideal time to seek a Seven Generation Solution for the long-term care and creative cross-country exhibit of the portrait of Canada created by the 600+ canoe and kayaks and the 1000+ related artifacts that comprise the museum’s collection.

One of the most effervescent and popular craft in the museum happens to be a 38cm canoe made of pure silver that belonged to 19th Century Hudson’s Bay Company Governor, Sir George Simpson.

The idea is take the Silver Canoe across the country and to gather around this storied little artifact with good food and good company in resonant venues, to share plans of the museum’s aspirations to rebuild and renew itself, and to engage Canadians from all walks of life with the future of the museum, exploring the role that canoes have played in the past and present, and to dream about the role canoes and canoe stories could and should play in the future.
